- Decide whether a surcharge program is right for you and how much you plan to surcharge
- Partner with a reputable processor
- Notify the card brands and your acquiring bank 30 days prior to your intent to surcharge
- Purchase and install equipment/software (If needed). Make sure receipts disclose the surcharges
- Notify customers that credit card purchases will be subject to a surcharge by placing signage at the entrance to your store and at all points of sale
- Update the checkout page of your website, and any alternative payment methods, with notifications about credit card surcharges (if needed)
- Begin surcharging!
